Players excited to jump back into WotLK and level Engineering in WotLK will have access to a lot of cool items to craft. Due to the nature of these items engineering is often one of the best professions to have in both PvP and PvE. Here are the most notable items for Engineering:

Jeeves: a portable repair bot MOLL-E: a portable mailbox Flexweave Underlay: a parachute allowing slow fall Rocket Boots Xtreme: a brief buff allowing greatly increased movement speed Mounts: Mekgineer’s Chopper or Mechano-hog Engineering Goggles depending on your class’s stat requirements.

Engineering is often paired with Mining as a second profession. Many of the required materials for Engineering recipes require items that can be made with Mining. They also are able to harvest resources from mechanical-type enemies once they are slain, known as Salvaging.

This guide will help players completely level Engineering to the skill cap of 450 in the most efficient way possible. However, sometimes recipes don’t always guarantee to increase the skill level (skill-up); for this reason, the use of the “approximately” symbol (~) is often used to convey the average amount of crafts and materials needed.

Engineering Specializations

There are 2 specializations that players can select upon reaching level 200 in Engineering. They are Goblin Engineering and Gnomish Engineering. Players must complete a quest to choose their specialization.

Horde Quest Giver: Graham Van Talen, Undercity [76,75] Alliance Quest Givers: Lilliam Sparkspindle, Stormwind [62,30] Springspindle Fizzlegear, Ironforge [69,45] Neutral Quest Giver: Tinkerwiz, The Barrens [63,36]

There are additional recipes players can learn for each specialization, these can be bought at 2 vendors:

Goblin Engineering Recipes:

Goblin Engineering Recipes: Didi the Wrench, Dalaran [39, 24] Gnomish Engineering Recipes: Findle Whistlesteam, Dalaran [39,25]

Players can only have one specialization at a time. We’re not sure at this time if players will be able to change their specialization for a fee of 150g like some other professions. But we’ll add this section on changing specializations just in case.

In order to change specializations, players will need to completely unlearn Engineering. This removes any previous recipes learned and will require re-leveling Engineering and relearning all those recipes again.

How To change Engineering Specializations:

Unlearn Engineering (Press “K” and click the red circle with a line through it) Relearn Engineering Attain level 200 Engineering Use the book, Soothsaying for Dummies, near Narain Soothfancy in Tanaris to select a new specialization.

That being said, it is often a strategy for players to learn one specialization first to craft all the non-specialization-required items they want. Next, they will switch to the specialization that they prefer at the end-game and start over. You can change your Specialization by following these steps:
